We’re recruiting a brand-new Payroll Officer role to complete a Fixed-Term Contract initially working for a higher education facility with multiple sites across the Oxfordshire and Thames Valley region.

The role has been created to cope with the increase in staff employed across the group within the UK and the resulting increased workload within payroll. This will be a fast-paced position which would ideally suit someone who has worked in local government or education-based payrolls previously. This organisation also works further afield with colleges across the EMEA region and enrolls in excess of 30,000 students annually. It’s a fast paced, forward-thinking organisation where you’ll need to adapt quickly, as well as roll your sleeves up and getting stuck in.

Duties for the Payroll Officer will include:

  • Manage your own section of the total payroll, while assisting with the administration of all payrolls across the Group
  • Administer starters and leavers
  • Process all statutory & voluntary deductions (including SMP, SSP, SPP etc) in accordance with current HMRC legislation
  • Process staff expense claims
  • Assist with the Pension processing when needed
  • Ensure all payrolls are checked and accurate with minimal to zero errors
  • Answer staff pay queries and using high level of customer care to manage and resolve issues promptly
  • Support the Payroll Manager with any additional responsibilities

Experience needed:

  • Ideally 2+ years payroll experience
  • Up to date with HMRC legislation
  • Ideally worked within Public or Education Sectors
  • High Attention to detail
  • Ability to work within process and procedures
  • Understanding working within compliance of Data Protection Act
